How do Home Based Educators get selected?
Home Based Childcare is one of the fastest growing industries in New Zealand.
Being a Home Based Educator with A Kidz World is a chosen career path.
It’s not a 9am – 5pm job but a career that can work for you,
it’s a career that accommodates your personal wants and needs. The hours and days of work can be flexible depending on your situation. You are able to have up to a maximum of four children under the age of 6 in your care at any one time, only two children under the age of two years can be included in this total. This 1:4 ratio includes any of your own preschool children at home with you during time of care.
Educators are independently contracted to A Kidz World, which means that they are not employees of the service.
We value our Educators and choose to contract only the best. They are the most valuable resource the children in our service have. Our Educators are nurtured and rewarded in order for them to teach to their full potential.
For the benefit of the children, A Kidz World needs to know that you have seriously considered being an Educator and will be an Educator long term.
Home Based Educators need to demonstrate an excellent command of both written and verbal English, a warm caring personality, and enjoy working and playing with children.
Educators need to provide a developmentally appropriate and stimulating play programme based on Te Whâriki the New Zealand Early Childhood Curriculum which is developed in conjunction with and supported by A Kidz World Coordinator.
Educators homes must comply with the Ministry of Education Licensing Criteria for Home Based Education and Care Services 2008, which requires that homes are safe, clean and hygienic with a fenced outdoor play area.
Educators homes must be smoke, drug and alcohol free while children are in care, safe and secure.
All Educators contracted to A Kidz World will be 17 years of age or older and hold a current first aid certificate. All Educators have to provide personal references and doctors checks on application, police checks are carried out on them and all persons living in their home that are over the age 17 years before children can start care in their own home.
